3 Ways to Style Your Living Room
Pro:
Of course, this is ideal if you and one other person are the primary residents, so you both will be able to watch media with ease.
This gives you the most floor space in the centre which can be helpful for pets or kids who need floor space to play.
This setup makes the room feel the most spacious!
Con:
Having your chairs this way doesn’t always encourage the most conversation as the chairs are directed towards the television.
The visitor won’t always have a comfortable option to sit for long periods as the only other option is against a window, meaning that someone will be cheated out of the view.
This setup means you won’t have a coffee table, only side tables, which can be ok for some. But if you plan to host and have others over, a table in the middle of the room is a necessity!
Pro:
Having the bench floating in the space means that guests always have ample available seating and they get the best view of the skyline behind the chairs
This setup means there is a coffee table of sorts which becomes a surface for beverages with the addition of a tray, plus the fabric cubes can become extra seating themselves
Having your seating in a circular shape promotes conversation meaning that your group will feel more social and engaged in conversation.
Con:
This setup isn’t optimal for TV and movies, meaning that someone will likely always have to sit at an angle to watch media which isn’t very comfortable
This setup also means the room is very full so this isn’t ideal if you or someone in your household has accessibility needs or requires more space to be comfortable
This also takes away space for pets and kids who may topple things that are close to the floor like items on the makeshift coffee table.
Pro:
Great for folks who like a little more solitude and a classic setup that creates symmetry in the room.
This is great for promoting meaningful conversation with one other person.
It provides a larger flat surface, with the addition of a tray for beverages and snacks.
Cons:
This can start to feel like an interview setup which for some doesn’t feel very comfortable.
The bench as the coffee table may require a longer tray to make it stable.
This does remove any floor space for kids and pets and creates tighter quarters for anyone who may need a little more space.
This means you would have to move furniture to provide additional seating for guests as required
At the end of the day, how you set up your space needs to serve you and your every day, so take the time to consider your needs and how you can make your space work for you!
