5 Ways to Add Fall to Your Living Room

When it comes to fall decor, people's minds often go to a place of bright oranges, reds and yellows to reflect the season’s palette. Though I do love a moment for warmer tones, I feel it’s important to remember the palette you are already working with and see how you can adapt it to the season at hand. As someone with a green forward living room, adding warm tones has to be strategic and thoughtful, everything should work together! Today I share a few simple ways you can add an air of fall without having to redecorate every inch of your space. Let’s get cozy!

Fall Candles

Probably the most classic recommendation, adding a fall scent is such a simple, easy and cost-effective way to make your home feel a little more cozy and in line with the season. This particular one I love (not only because it was a wonderful gift) but because it is in a dark brown glass container, giving a unique and warm glow in the room when lit, creating an ideal fall ambiance.

New Pillows

Though pillows can be a tough price point at times, I find switching out your shams is an easy way to change the mood and add in patterns and colours without taking over a space. I already have some black in this room so I thought why not get one with a unique pattern and another that is still in the palette but in a bolder pattern? By having pillows that are a little louder but still on theme, it feels like something has been added without it feeling like a dramatic change.

Pumpkin Adds

Again a classic fall addition but with a twist! Though I do think that classic pumpkins have their place, I love this black pumpkin with gold stem not only because it feels a little more chic and simple, but because it is also a cookie jar so as we get closer to Thanksgiving and Halloween I can put flowers or anything else I like in it while still keeping the fall aesthetic.

Textured Throws

A subtle addition but an important one, transitioning from warmer weather to cooler days means the layers (like in your closet) can be a little more fluffy and cozy. Around this time I like to switch out my thinner throw blankets for thicker ones with high texture, giving the feeling of cable knit sweaters on chilly fall days.

Dried Florals

This is one of my favourite things to do this time of year. As someone who enjoys buying bouquets, taking your florals out of water a little early and hanging them upside down can mean you have them for ages after. I usually prioritize plants like eucalyptus which dry out easily and make for beautiful greenery for as long as you like.
