Nicole’s Favourite Kitchen Items You May Be Missing

Though I am no professional chef or baker, like many of us, I have spent countless hours in my kitchen making meals for my husband and loved ones and in that time have started to notice where there may be gaps in my cooking arsenal. It is no secret that I love a space that is styled and designed, so I’ve taken years looking for items that marry form and function and today I wanted to share some of the unexpected gems that have made my kitchen time that much better, let’s dive in!

Funnel

It only takes a handful of times for you to spill rice or flour all over your counter to realize that you are missing your new best friend for refilling your dry goods containers, enter the mason jar funnel! I love this thing not only because it makes filling things up easier but I have used it on countless occasions to fill leftovers in containers or even to make sangria for friends. It is the gift that keeps on giving and keeps my counters clean every time.

French Press

When it comes to coffee everyone has their preferences but for my husband and I, the French Press is our favourite. Not only does it make a great brew, it doesn’t require any maintenance other than washing after use! It also is recommended to use a coarser grind of coffee which means it gives us a reason to grind our own beans making the coffee that much more delicious.

Cook Book Holder

Though I’ll admit I’m not always one for recipes when I do decide to crack open a cookbook, there is nothing worse than losing your page when you’re hands are covered in batter and something’s boiling on the stove. I love a cookbook holder because it makes the content more readable and helps keep your place. I’ve also used this in our living room to display beautiful photographs in our coffee table books, so there is a way to use it even when you’re not using a cookbook recipe!

Dough Cutter

When I bake I don’t always follow all the directions perfectly, and though a majority of the time it works out ok I have run into more than one occasion when a dough cutter would have been handy. Now that we have it I find we are constantly using it not only to measure pieces for cookie designs but also as a food scraper for getting things off your cutting board and into the pan. It’s a wonderful little tool and makes life that much easier.

Coup Glasses

I was a hold-out on this type of glassware for a long time (Stephanie will agree I suspect) as I am not a big prosecco and champagne drinker, however when I came across these gems I couldn’t resist. Not only do they have beautiful gold and black detailing giving them a deco feel, but they’re a little deeper than other coup glasses, meaning you can add a fun ice cube and more into your glass, so cheers to finding the perfect glass for the perfect cocktail or mocktail of the season!
