Our Fall Coat Round-Up Nov 15 Written By Stephanie Kinsman I think we’ve made it pretty clear here at AHS, that we’re autumn enthusiasts. Between the crunching of leaves, warm beverages, cozy throws and luxe layers, we live for the magic of this season! With fall weather being as unpredictable as ever, coats are more of an MVP in our wardrobe than one may initially think. Many see a coat as a simple topper to throw on day after day, but the truth is that a coat has the ability to make or break an outfit, especially if you live in climates like Canada and find yourself wearing coats for much of the year. I have personally seen the value of having a variety of coats in my closet to suit different levels of dress and varying degrees in weather, it allows for more versatility and keeps cold-weather dressing interesting! So, today I’m sharing three of my fave types of casual fall coats and the details that you may want to look for if you’re considering adding a coat to your collection this season. Cozy TextureThis green cropped teddy coat is one of my new favourites for fall! I recently acquired it at a clothing swap and it was one of the pieces I was most excited to bring home to my wardrobe. A teddy coat like this one provides texture that perfectly aligns itself with the season. We all want to feel cozy and warm this time of year and fabric that is reminiscent of a childhood teddy bear allows us to achieve this every time. My teddy coat feels a bit more elevated when it comes to style, as it has a beautiful lapel, however, the great thing about this fabrication is that you can find it in many different styles this time of year, from sporty to elevated, there’s something for everyone. Eye-Catching PrintsOften people think fall is the time for neutrals and a more muted pallet, and I would say though luxe neutrals are definitely an important staple when it comes to this season, that does not mean we can’t have fun with a little print! I found this plaid bomber at Aritzia last year during their Boxing Day sale and it has felt like a perfect fall print to me ever since! If you’re someone who wants to dabble with printed coats in autumn, I recommend looking for prints with rich colours that have depth and that incorporate some neutrals to ground any brighter colours in the print. Classic LeatherYou absolutely must consider having a leather or vegan leather coat in your collection, especially if it happens to be a classic moto-styled jacket! Of the three in our round-up today, this coat is probably the hardest worker. You can wear it casually with jeans and a sweater or over a slip dress for a night out with your girls. Leather is a fabric that never goes out of style, especially in fall. Its texture always feels rich and adds a luxe, put-together aesthetic to any look. You can’t go wrong whether you’re investing or thrifting something secondhand, there’s always something for every person, style and price point, it’s just that classic! Want more style inspiration?
