Pieces I’m Excited to Wear This Fall
The Knit Vest
This piece is a little loud and outrageous (I’ll admit), but I am forever in love with this combination of bright colours knit together in a bold pattern of stripes. Not to mention, this vest was a thrift find at a vintage shop in Brooklyn, so whenever I wear it, I’m flooded with fun memories of shopping with Nicole in NYC.
While I live for bold colours, this vest brought me a challenge in terms of how I could pair this piece. In some respects, it feels like a stand-alone piece (and it honestly is), however, the trick with a bold item like this is to anchor it with a colour family that already exists in the garment. By not adding any more attention or bold elements you are complimenting the elements that already exist.
The Cowboy Sweater
If you know me, you know I’m an absolute sucker for pink and red pairings. It brings me so much joy, not only when I wear the combination, but when I see others strutting in it. It’s always a hit! Immediately when I saw this cashmere sweater at Century 21, I knew it was a me sweater, bright, fun and a little whimsical! I love the idea of pairing a bright pink with a neutral green cargo pant because there’s something about this combo that feels cool and effortless bringing the energy I want to have as I step into this new season.
The Tie Vest
You can never have too many vests! We love a layering piece that provides a little extra warmth once the temperature cools but doesn’t make you feel like you’re standing in an oven seeing as we’re not yet in full-blown winter. Save the additional heat for -40 degrees when you need it! I’ve loved this vest since I saw it online and then when I met her in person this spring, it was magic.
This vest is a versatility winner while still providing tie and quilting details that offer visual interest. This fall I’m wearing her over light sweaters and blouses, but I’ve also loved wearing her over dresses, tees and skirts.
