Nicole & Ryan’s Fall Calendar Challenge Oct 4 Written By Nicole Campbell It should be known that my husband and I are HUGE fans of Fall, I mean what’s not to love? From the clothes to the aesthetics, to the beautiful foliage, there are a million reasons to choose this as your favourite season. To celebrate our beloved Autumn, every year Ryan and I create a calendar with every activity we want to do each day. Some are more active than others but it’s an intentional way for us to make the most of this time of year and enjoy the beautiful transition of the season while spending intentional quality time together. Today we want to share some of the activities we always like to include so you can make your own Fall Calendar, let’s dive in! Enjoy your environment We have the luxury in Ontario of a beautiful Fall season. Each year there is nothing more special than watching the foliage change colour, especially in our little Toronto neighborhood where we have more tall trees than we can count. So take the time to enjoy your surroundings, whether it be heading to the park to read under the canopy or bundle up and find a coffee shop with a patio still open. Whatever you choose we encourage you to get outside and appreciate the beautiful, rich colours that surround you. Get dressed up When it comes to fall, nothing feels more fabulous than pulling out your beloved knits and heavy denim out of the back of the closet. Suddenly it feels like my wardrobe expands in size and there’s more flexibility in what to wear because I can simply just wear more! Every year we make sure to include what we call a “Fall Fashion Show” which is simply going to a specific area in our neighborhood that’s picturesque and taking photos of each other in some fits that scream fall. A few of these photos have ended up being some of our most beloved! Indulge in PumpkinsWhether it’s lattes, baking, decorating or carving, tis the season to find some gourds. We’ve done a lot of different things over the years, but nothing makes it feel more like October than having pumpkins around the home, and even outside if you can. Coffee Shop Hop It is no secret that we are big coffee drinkers, so we try to do what we call a “Coffee Shop Hop” in which we give ourselves permission for a day or even just an afternoon to go to a beloved coffee shop, have a cup or two and chat, read and relax. When we finish, we move on to another shop and do the same thing! What’s nice about doing this with your partner or close friend, is you don’t feel as if you need to fill the silence, you can simply just enjoy the ambiance, people watch, and enjoy the feeling of being present. Decorate You know we had to include decorating somewhere in here! We absolutely love to not only decorate for halloween, but at the beginning of the month, we take the time to make our home feel a little more cozy, by layering in blankets, adding candles and bringing out board games to make this time feel a little Hygge and focus on living more slowly. Get Halloween ReadyWhether you like to dress up, hand out candy or simply watch a movie filled with fright, it’s the perfect time to embrace the spooky. My husband LOVES halloween and this means that we always go all out. Through out the month we’ll decide our costumes, make treats, sometimes help hand out candy and always go for a walk to see how everyone in our neighborhood has decorated their houses. It’s a silly night but it’s always fun and feels special because we make the time to spend together, celebrating our favourite season of the year. Want more self-care tips and ideas?
